Are you looking for a dance that brings you joy and freedom on the floor? On Saturday, February 7, we are hosting a dedicated Slow Bal day, centered around this swing dance set to slow jazz music.
Slow Bal invites you to be truly present in the moment. The slower tempo gives you the space to play with the music, discover your creative movements, and deepen the connection with your partner. This is a great chance to take the step towards comfortable dancing at slower tempos.
Sign up for the Slow Bal Club – Rotterdam Edition! We offer workshops at two levels, packed with inspiration, technique, and playfulness. After the workshops, you can immediately continue dancing and practicing during our cozy Tea Dance.
Do you already dance Lindy Hop or Balboa? Slow Bal is a great addition to your dance repertoire!
We offer various workshops for both dancers with Slow Bal experience and absolute beginners. You do not need to bring your own dance partner to participate in any of the workshops or the tea dance.
For experienced Slow Bal dancers (intermediate). You know the Dean Raftery basic and the Slow Out, and you’ve taken workshops or courses in Rotterdam or at international events. We will focus on deepening, playing, and discovering.
The introduction to Slow Bal for absolute beginners or anyone who has only done a taster. We build your foundation, rhythm, connection, and first moves step-by-step.
Pro Tip: Experienced dancers are warmly encouraged to join the Foundation session in the opposite role. It’s a massive boost for your dance knowledge, skills, and the quality of your primary role!
A cozy social featuring slow jazz music, perfect for Slow Bal and Slow Swing — and occasionally a faster track for Balboa enthusiasts. This is the place to practice, catch up, and meet new people. Bring something tasty to share — we’ll provide the tea, great music, and a nice atmosphere.
Come and find out why so many dancers are falling for Slow Bal.

Deirdre’s dance journey started with Lindy Hop, but it was Slow Bal that ultimately captured her heart around 2013. She was drawn to its elegant form, the close, upright connection, and its flowing movements. After intensive training and teaching, she launched Slowfeet Studio in 2019, focused entirely on Slow Bal.
Deirdre’s classes are energetic and clear. She excels at making technique understandable and simple and providing personal feedback. Her motto: “Slow Bal is my ultimate form of expression, where every step and beat allows me to truly be myself.” Deirdre is constantly working on building the Slow Bal scene both in the Netherlands and internationally.
Mark began with classic Ballroom and Latin at fifteen, later rediscovering his passion for partner dancing with Lindy Hop in 2012. He later embraced Balboa, captivated by its delicate movements and subtle connection. Since 2021, he has added Slow Bal to his repertoire. With his background in engineering, Mark often approaches the dance with a focus on technical precision, which ensures a solid foundation for artistic expression.
As an instructor, Mark prioritizes the joy of social dancing. He emphasizes equality in dance roles, ensuring that each partner is valued for their unique contribution to the partnership.
The entire program takes place at one location, including both the workshops and the tea dance:
